Principal Investigator: Dr. Muhammad Saeed<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Dr. Muhammad Saeed is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry whose research combines synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, computational drug discovery, and advanced drug delivery to develop innovative solutions for cancer and infectious diseases. His research emphasizes translating fundamental molecular design into therapeutically relevant small molecules, targeted delivery systems, and functional biomaterials.\nHe earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of T\u00fcbingen, Germany, and subsequently completed postdoctoral research at the University of Iowa and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), where he worked on molecular imaging, estrogen metabolism, and mechanisms of breast carcinogenesis. These experiences have shaped a multidisciplinary research program at the interface of chemistry and biomedicine.\nThe Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry (BMC) group, envisioned and founded by Dr. Saeed, integrates organic synthesis, computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and biological evaluation to discover new therapeutic agents and smart drug delivery platforms. Current research interests include anticancer and antiviral drug discovery, endocrine-resistant breast cancer, peptide-based nanomaterials, stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems, and sustainable catalytic technologies.\nDr. Saeed is committed to training the next generation of scientists through interdisciplinary research and international collaborations. The Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry (BMC) performs multidisciplinary research at the interface of chemistry and biology. Our vision and mission is to develop and train future leaders that could use the scientific knowledge and skills of organic chemistry to unravel challenging problems of biological sciences and medicine. Currently, our team is busy understanding mechanisms by which diseases (viral\/cancer) initiate, followed by investigating the strategies by which the pathogenic development can be intervened using small organic compounds. Thus, we design, synthesize, and biologically characterize small organic molecules as potential therapeutic agents against dengue, HCV, SARS-CoV-2 and breast cancer cells. We train undergrad and graduate student in the art of organic synthesis, computational drug designing, and biochemical assays.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
